The New Zealand Experience
You’re invited to join the Institute of Photographic Studies for the 7th New Zealand Experience in the fall of 2012. For 26 days you will join experienced international photojournalists Mark Jackson and Rowan Gillson as they guide you through the ins and outs of travel- and missions photography in New Zealand and Fiji.
You won’t spend much time in a classroom, but the learning never stops as each day is filled with experiences that will shape the way you think and increase your capacity as a photographer. We will help you put together completed projects, that include written and video elements, all while still on the road. The 2012 New Zealand Experience will bring video production and writing assignments into the mix as never before.
The New Zealand Experience is divided into three distinct segments. Part 1 is on New Zealand’s North Island. Here you will encounter the people and culture of New Zealand for the first time, and learn the photographic skills to reach out effectively to the people of Fiji. Part 2 is on New Zealand’s South Island as we tour some of the most fascinating landscapes on Earth. In this segment you encounter yourself and your God through guided reflection and discussion. Part 3 is in Fiji. Here you will be put in the field to reach out to people around you and use your skills to support the work that God is about in Fiji.
This PhotoEx is a unique opportunity that combines practical training with real world opportunity to give you an experience than you cannot find in a book, classroom, or even on another PhotoEx. All participants in The New Zealand Experience must be 18 years of age or older and have attended Prizewinning Photography 1 and Prizewinning Photography 2.
Participants must have the required gear. View the Gear List for required and recommended gear.
Participants must agree to the Community Guidelines & Terms and Conditions.
Participants must fill out and sign a Health History form and a Liability Release form.
