Wisdom search this morning was great! Katie Miller (IPS’s resident expert in portraiture) gave her testimony and admonished us to rejoice in the limitations that Go has placed on us. Her “thorn in the flesh” was hand tremors, and yet God moved in amazing ways to help clear that up when she yielded to Him. We were all challenged and encouraged.
Today was much looked forward to by all the class, seeing that it involved a much-desired trip to Starbucks. After we had “started our day right”, we headed to the Dallas Arboraetum for a morning of learning and, of course, picture taking. We had been assigned many required pictures, including one with an “S” curve, a portrait we posed ourselves, a picture with a subject that filled the frame, and so on.
Before scattering to take pictures, we went to several different workshops on different kind of portraiture, from couples to kids to brides. Then we frantically ran to shoot our two rolls of film and fulfill our requirements
We also took a tour of The Color Place, which makes very large reproductions of pictures and digital images. They do banners, signs, car wraps, window wraps, etc. That was very interesting, although most of their staff ahad gone home for the day.
Overall the day was challenging and exciting and we got to use what we were learning. We were a tired bunch this evening but very much enjoyed each other’s company.
